1940s ANSON Shriner Cufflink Set Gold Tone Art Deco Men's Vintage Cufflinks with Red Cherry Juice Bakelite "Stones" by Anson in Original Box

$ 49.99

Beautiful 1940s Vintage Art Deco Gold SHRINER Cufflinks made by ANSON in Original Velvet Lined Presentation Box. This very attractive Art Deco modernist cufflinks feature square insets of what is known to collectors as "cherry juice bakelite" (a synthetic plastic or lucite material in a deep dark clear red color frequently used in jewelry of the 40s). The cufflinks have the Shriner Moon and Sword emblem on the face. They feature square bullet back closures; a capsule or bullet shape that is suspended between two posts. The bullet flips on its axis to manipulate it through the button holes in the cuff, and then flips to secure the cufflink on the shirt. Both cufflinks are marked "ANSON PAT. PEND." in block lettering on the posts.

Anson founded as the Anderson Tool & Die Company in 1938 by Olof Anderson who was a Swedish immigrant to America making items for jewelery manufacturers. During WWII the machinery was adapted to milling machines and entered into war production work. In 1945 Anderson formed Anson Incorporated and began men's jewelry production. In the early 1960s "Anson" began using script instead of block letters for their logo.

These attractive high quality vintage men's cufflinks by Anson measure nearly 1" wide and are in very good vintage condition! The original black leather-look presentation box with blue velvet and cream satin lining is also in nice shape. A beautiful art deco era cufflink set for the vintage gentleman!
