Wonderful 1940s Vintage Art Deco Gold Tone Metal Cufflinks made by SWANK. This very attractive Art Deco modernist design cufflink set features overlapping Stars design. The cufflinks have bullet back closures with square shaped capsules suspended between two posts. The bullet or capsule flips on its axis to manipulate it through the button holes in the cuff, and then flips to secure the cufflink on the shirt. Both cufflinks are marked "SWANK" on the backs as well as the posts. The cufflinks which look unworn are still in their original box from SWANK.

Formed in 1936, Swank Products, Inc. made gun parts during WWII as well as award items like purple hearts and bronze stars. After the war Swank expanded into other areas, including fragrances, wallets, belts and other accessories for men. In the 1950′s and 60′s, Swank, Inc. began acquiring other brands in order to continue expanding and today a number of recognizable brand names are owned by Swank, Inc., they include Guess?, Liz Claiborne, Geoffrey Beene, Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Nautica and Chaps.

These early cufflinks by Swank are in EXCELLENT vintage condition. The faces of the cufflinks measure 7/8" in length. A beautiful art deco era cufflink set!
