Formed in 1936, Swank Products, Inc. made gun parts during WWII as well as award items like purple hearts and bronze stars. After the war Swank expanded into other areas, including fragrances, wallets, belts and other accessories for men. In the 1950s and 60s, Swank, Inc. began acquiring other brands in order to continue expanding and today a number of recognizable brand names are owned by Swank, Inc., they include Guess?, Liz Claiborne, Geoffrey Beene, Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Nautica and Chaps.
This large, flashy 1960s vintage cufflink set by SWANK features large square "stones" which look like Tiger's Eye but may be imitation in Modernist gold tone metal settings. The set includes two "wrap-a-round" cufflinks, that is they have a band of metal mesh that wraps around the side of the cuff. The cufflinks have bullet back closures; a torpedo, or bullet shaped, capsule that is suspended between two posts. The bullet can be flipped on its axis to manipulate it through the button holes in the cuff, and then flipped to secure the cufflink on the shirt. Each cufflink is impressed on reverse with the the word "SWANK". A great early men's accessory set in excellent unused or barely used condition! The cufflinks are a large size, measuring about 3/4" across the face. A beautiful set for the vintage gentleman!
Our cufflink sets include a handmade paper gift box with cotton lining and make a great gift for your favorite vintage gentleman!
